Please read these terms before using CD Ladder.
Acceptance of terms
By downloading or using CD Ladder (the "App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App. These Terms form a binding agreement between you and CD Ladder ("we," "us," or "our").
Description of the App
CD Ladder is a personal financial tracking application for iOS. It allows you to record, organize, and monitor certificates of deposit ("CDs") grouped into user-defined goals. The App performs interest calculations, tracks maturity dates, and presents historical data. All data processing occurs locally on your device.
Not financial advice
CD Ladder is a tracking and organizational tool — not a financial advisor. Nothing in the App constitutes financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Interest calculations and projections are estimates based on the information you enter and standard compound interest formulas; they are provided for informational purposes only and may not reflect actual returns. Always verify figures with your financial institution before making decisions about your money.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years of age to use CD Ladder. By using the App, you represent that you meet this requirement. The App is intended for personal, non-commercial use.
Your data
All financial data you enter into CD Ladder is yours. We do not have access to it. You are solely responsible for the accuracy of the data you enter and for any decisions you make based on the App's output. See our Privacy Policy for full details on how data is stored.
Accuracy of calculations
CD Ladder calculates interest projections using standard compound interest formulas and the compounding frequency you specify. We make reasonable efforts to ensure these calculations are correct. However, we make no warranty that the App's figures will exactly match those reported by your financial institution. Actual returns depend on factors outside our control, including your bank's specific calculation methodology, rate changes, and early-withdrawal penalties.
Third-party services
CD Ladder uses the following third-party services, which are subject to their own terms:
- Apple iCloud — a planned future feature for optional, opt-in data sync via Apple's CloudKit. Not used in the current version of the App; if enabled in a future release it will be subject to Apple's iCloud Terms.
- logo.dev — bank logo images. Subject to logo.dev's Terms.
- FDIC public API — institution search data. A U.S. government service; no separate terms required.
We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or practices of these third-party services.
Intellectual property
CD Ladder, its logo, design, and all content within the App are the property of CD Ladder and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the App without our express written consent.
Prohibited uses
You agree not to:
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App, except as permitted by applicable law
- Use the App in any way that could damage, disable, or impair its functionality
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any component of the App
Disclaimer of warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CD LADDER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless CD Ladder from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the App or violation of these Terms.
Termination
These Terms remain in effect for as long as you use the App. You may terminate them at any time by deleting the App. We reserve the right to discontinue the App or any feature at any time without notice.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the courts located in Illinois.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the effective date above and notify users via the App's release notes for material changes. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
